Organic Chana Whole (Chickpea)


Organic Bengal gram is harvested from organic farms situated in Southern India without using any fertilizers or pesticides. These brown coloured beans are commonly known as chana, chickpeas and garbanzo beans. It’s a member of large group called “pulses” which are rich in proteins, dietary fibre and low in cholesterol and saturated fat. The beans can be soaked in water and cooked along with vegetables in preparation of a variety of curries that complement well with rice, roti, chapattis, puri, kulcha as well as bread. It can be sprouted after soaking in water for 24 hours and added to salads to enrich it with proteins. Bengal gram beans are rich in potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium. It also has impressive amounts of iron, sodium, selenium and small amounts of copper, zinc and manganese.


  • Organic Bengal gram dal is obtained by splitting whole Organic Bengal gram after removing the outer husk. The nutritious, protein-rich dal is staple food of Indians, used to make dal, a nourishing, soul-satisfying soup eaten daily by Indians. This is in use in India since ancient time. It has a sweet, nutty and slightly earthy flavor, nutritious with high levels of plant protein along with low-glycemic carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Their mild flavor makes them the perfect accompaniment to many dishes viz., Stir Fries, Meat-Based Soups & Stews, Curries, Casseroles, Middle-Eastern Style Hummus, Roasted Eggplant Dip, Salads and Classic Dal Soup. In India, this dal is cooked alone or in a stew with vegetables, its flavor complements side dishes such as rice, puri, roti, kulcha and chapatti. Coarsely crushed Bengal gram dal is used in Gujrathi dishes like dhokla or handwa, for a crunchy texture and to increase the nutritional value. Roasted dal with a coating of salt and spice makes a tasty snack you can enjoy with a dose of coffee. It reduces cholesterol, prevents constipation and helps prevent digestive disorders like irritable bowel syndrome and diverticulosis. Bengal gram beans are rich in minerals - potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium as well as choline and also have a good amount of Vitamin A and C. They also contain small amounts of Vitamin E, K, B6, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate and pantothenic acid.
